Daily Affirmation #317

Those who love Your law have great peace, and nothing shall cause them to stumble” (Psalm 119:165, MEV). If you watch the news, you get it driven home to you that the world is crazy right now. I mean, it was crazy when I was a kid, too, but it seemed to be a far away crazy. A different part of the world, crazy. Not a backyard did-you-see-that crazy. Today, though, the crazy is right in our faces. And it can get overwhelming if you let it. But there is something that always stems the tide. Something that always provides a breakwater and high dykes to prevent mental and emotional flooding. It’s the Word. It’s not trite. It’s not just for pastors. The Word is a comfort in a way that nothing else is. There is surety in it. There is confidence in it. Illustration after illustration. Example after example. Lives changed. Nations overturned. Supernatural activity when natural activity can’t accomplish it. God WITH His people and His people choosing to be WITH God. It isn’t archaic. It isn’t a collection of myths and legends. It isn’t a book crafted by human minds drawing from the traditions of the world around them and adding their own little spin to it. This is a book written by God Himself (Holy Spirit). A physical representation of Jesus, the Anointed One (John 1:1-4). He wrote it down through scribes chosen for their unique voices. For their love of God. For their willingness to put aside their own ideas, be honest about their faults and questions, and to write what they heard Him dictating. It is a record of humanity’s relationship with God and God’s never ending support for His obedient children, His love for ALL humanity, and His efforts to get them to accept The Way for them to be restored to a relationship with Himself. This is a book that changes minds, changes hearts, and has solutions and strategies for every single thing that we are ever going to come across in our lives – ever. If we will take it in and submit in humble obedience to what we find there, there is NOTHING that won’t be handleable. Because this Word we have been given is a manual for HOW to agree with and cooperate with God in what He wants to do. It is touchable proof that God loves us too much to leave us lost, adrift, or relying on our own self for anything. The Word shows us how MUCH He loves us.
