“Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me, even if he dies, will live“
John 11:25
The human mind struggles with this. We think of the resurrection as a future event. Something that is going to happen when Jesus returns as Conquering King, the Messiah ben David of prophesy. Jesus IS coming back in bodily form as Conquering King. There WILL BE a resurrection of the dead. But it will be the physical arrival of the resurrection which exists bodily in Jesus. Jesus is the resurrection. Now. Eternally. Always. He IS that power. That power is with Him, is Him, and always will be Him. That is how Jesus tells death to let go of someone. It doesn’t matter if they just died, have been dead four years, or have been dead four hundred. Jesus IS the resurrection and Jesus can tell death to let go. Once death lets go, LIFE is there again. Period. That is WHO Jesus is. The abundant life of manifested resurrection.
When Jesus went to the tomb and spoke to Lazarus, Lazarus was able to agree and cooperate because Jesus WAS resurrection power and had the authority to get death to let go of Lazarus. It didn’t matter to Jesus that Lazarus was four days dead. Jesus could have us go to any cemetery in the world and empty it of dead bodies through His resurrection power. He could bring them all back to life, no matter how long they’ve been in the ground. He IS resurrection power. I don’t see Him doing that, though. Either because it’s not the Father’s will – unlikely because it is the Father’s will for us to be living – or because we don’t believe it – very likely because it is a humanly unbelievable thing. We have trouble with someone dead for hours. We think it is impossible. How can we believe for someone dead a hundred years? Or even forty? Yet, Jesus IS resurrection. Time makes NO DIFFERENCE to Him.
Since Jesus IS resurrection, and Jesus lives in us through Ruach HaKodesh, then it is also through Ruach HaKodesh that resurrection power lives inside of us. We will age because we are in the arrow of time. But we do NOT have to deteriorate along that journey. Whether we are twenty, forty, sixty, eighty, one hundred, or one hundred and thirty, we have available to us His resurrection power that CAN fuel us so that we have the same capabilities through ALL of those ages. Moses did. Perfect eyesight. Perfect vigour. Perfect strength. A hundred and twenty-two and he was marching up a mountain like a twenty year old, seeing everything and capable of having babies because he fully functioned (no erectile dysfunction at all). WE can be the same way. – if not better. We have better promises than he did (Hebrews 8:6) AND we have Ruach HaKodesh living inside us in a way that Moses did not (1 Corinthians 3:16).
Do you know what would be a great witness and bring much glory to Adonai? For all believers (Jew first and then Gentile) to walk in their resurrection identity. Jesus was the firstfruits of TOTAL resurrection (spirit, soul, and body). We do not have TOTAL resurrection, but we are already a part of resurrection because we are already a part of Jesus. That means that we do not have our heavenly bodies, our restored bodies. But we DO have resurrection power living inside us that can revitalize THESE bodies to be in their prime for as long as we need them. Not dying because they can’t regenerate any more. Dying because we give up our spirits at the time that we are done (Psalm 91:16; John 19:30). We can do exactly what Jesus did because Jesus told us we can do exactly what He did (John 14:12). It isn’t something that we need to pray for. It can be our default condition simply because Ruach HaKodesh is living inside us.
“But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, this person does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, the one who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also make alive your mortal bodies through his Spirit who lives in you” (Romans 8:9-11). We have no real issues grasping the spiritual reality of these verses. But Jesus, as the resurrection, in alignment with the will of the Father, will ALSO MAKE ALIVE OUR MORTAL BODIES. He will give us life. He will enable us to be restored to the strength of our youth (Psalm 103:5; Isaiah 40:31). We do NOT have to deteriorate. We do NOT have to ‘age’ like the world. We don’t have to pick up their aches and pains. We don’t have to pick up their weakening bodies, their sicknesses, their mental weakening, their diseases, or their inabilities. We have LIFE inside us, not death. We have done all the dying we need to do. We do not need to suffer death’s depredations any longer. We have within us the renewing, restoring, re-creating power of the Father which restored completely to life a body that had been dead three days (Jesus) and four days (Lazarus). What do you think that kind of restoring power can do to a LIVING body? Make it of youthful vitality and keep it that way no matter how wrinkled the skin or white the hair. We have LIFE inside us. We need to start believing it. We need to start engaging it. It is one of the reasons we have Ruach HaKodesh in the first place. A body will of vitality is a body able to complete what has been put before it to accomplish. And OUR body is JESUS’ body. A body FULL of resurrection power and identity. OUR identity is Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:21) and Jesus’ identity is the person-hood of resurrection (John 11:25).
Daily Affirmation of the Goodness of Elohim: 2 Kings 13:21
“And it happened that they were burying a man; suddenly they saw the marauding band, so they threw the man in the grave of Elisha. As he went in, the man touched the bones of Elisha, and became alive and got up on his feet!” Adonai’s power doesn’t fade. It doesn’t go away. Elisha had walked so closely with Adonai that even after his death, the presence of Adonai was present. It was SO present that a different dead body that touched it was restored to life. Why? Resurrection power. Adonai is LIFE, not death. The more we get to know Adonai, the more life we’re around. It’s like how we hang around people and start to pick up their mannerisms and pronunciations. When we hang around Adonai, we start to pick up LIFE. In our language. In our thinking. In our actions. In our giving. In our tithing. In our blessing. In every aspect of our lives. Life is so much a part of Adonai that we cannot be separated from it in the same way we cannot be separated from Him. Jesus IS life. Jesus IS love. And BOTH of those things are inherent in the air we breathe with this breath of lives that Jesus gave to us (Genesis 2:7). They cannot be separated from Adonai and when we are in Him and around Him they won’t be able to be separated from US either. Dwelling in Jesus puts us in a place beyond human reason, human experience, and human expectation. It puts us into HIM and He is LIFE. What a GOOD God!
