These are the things you must do: Speak the truth, each of you, to one another. Practice true and righteous judgment in your courts.
Zechariah 8:16 (emphasis added)
Musical notes have a vibration. These vibrations are what our ears pick up and our brain transforms into signals that we understand. In the same kind of way, our words have vibration. Our hearts have the source material that is sent up into our minds who transform it into ideas which we speak out. Our bodies get the sense of these words because of the interaction between our hearts and minds that run through us. When we speak, our whole selves ‘understand’ whether we are speaking an in tune ‘note’ or a discordant ‘note’. Truth and lies are recognised.
Why is it that Adonai Elohim hates lies? They are among only seven things that the Word singles out as detestable. Elohim hates sin PERIOD. But six things are – in a sense – worse than other things because they are particularly rebellious. “There are six things that the Lord hates, even seven things that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift to run to evil, a false witness who pours out lies, and a person who spreads discord among family members” (Proverbs 6:16-19). All these things are a direct slap in the face to the nature of Adonai. They go against who He is. Each of them robs something from us and each of them prevents us from inhabiting a blessing. Lying is on the list twice: a lying tongue and a false witness who pours out ties. The first can be internal or external and the second is external. Both chain us up to different mindsets and both hinder our health.
If we embrace a lying mindset, we deny the truth of the Word. “Your instructions are totally reliable; all your just regulations endure” (Psalm 119:160). If we deny the Word, we deny Jesus. “Now the Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We saw his glory—the glory of the one and only, full of grace and truth, who came from the Father” (John 1:14). You cannot trust in something you deny. You HAVE to accept the truth of the Word to get it into your heart and benefit from it. “Every scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the person dedicated to God may be capable and equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Once it is in our heart, we have to mix it with our trust or Adonai doesn’t move in or through it – it would be just words, instead of words radiant with His power. “For we had good news proclaimed to us just as they did. But the message they heard did them no good, since they did not join in with those who heard it in faith” (Hebrews 4:2). Telling the truth is the first step in that process that ends with fully inhabited victory (John 8:31-32).
Our words make a difference. They are NEVER just words. They are always truth or untruth. Frivolous or serious. They inform us about what we really believe. And they can short circuit what we want by declaring an opposing thing. Since trust is completed by actions as a follow-through, our words can help or derail our trust. Anyone can say they believe something, but if their actions don’t back it up then it is obvious they don’t really believe. In the same way, we can declare a belief and turn around and speak the opposite. Being double-minded earns us nothing. Like planting a seed, digging it up to plant something else, and then doing it again. Nothing will live and nothing will grow when we act like that. We need to be focused on one thing and protect that thing with harmonious actions WITHOUT opposing commentary. “For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord, since he is a double-minded individual, unstable in all his ways” (James 1:7-8). What good does it do to our heart if we go to get prayer for healing, but always talk about how sick we are? What good does it do to thank Adonai for having received your healing, but immediately take cough syrup? This isn’t about whether doctors or medicine is the path to travel. It is about whether you are in harmony with your trust and belief by actions and ALL your words.
It is so easy to repeat the words we’ve learned throughout our lives. To parrot them. To talk about where we ARE instead of keeping our eyes – and our mouths – on where we WANT to be. Millionaires and other successful people don’t make that mistake. They acknowledge the position they are currently in, but they keep the vision of where they want to be firmly in front of them. They write it out. They imagine it. They think about it. They make their decisions based on it, without sacrificing reality. That means they don’t overextend themselves in the NOW, but they always seek to position themselves to advance toward their future. You won’t be able to receive a healing making you whole if you’re always talking about how sick you are. How you always get this way. Our tongues show the true condition of our THINKING. That thinking, reinforced by repeating the words again and again, gets into our hearts. Whatever we sow in our hearts, that is what we harvest. “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love its use will eat its fruit” (Proverbs 18:21). Depending on what you speak, you will get a good or a bad harvest. You ARE going to eat the fruit you plant. Do you want good fruit or rotten fruit? Do you want to reinforce life or reinforce death? Do you want your expectation to be health or to be sickness? Think about it. Why do you expect to start ‘falling apart’ at 40? Or 60? It doesn’t matter what the stereotype is. With a minor amount of searching you can discover THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of older people who are fit, fine, and functional. We don’t have to give in to age PERIOD. Just because we age does NOT mean we deteriorate. It is not entirely a mental exercise, but health STARTS with a mindset. True health will start with a mind set on truth – and you cannot get that outside of Adonai Elohim.
“Jesus replied, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. For he will not speak on his own authority, but will speak whatever he hears, and will tell you what is to come” (John 16:13). “God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a human being, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not make it happen?” (Numbers 23:19). “O Lord, teach me how you want me to live. Then I will obey your commands. Make me wholeheartedly committed to you” (Psalm 86:11). “God is spirit, and the people who worship him must worship in spirit and truth” (John 4:24). From the Father to the Son to the Spirit to the whole godhead, Yahweh is TRUTH. It is ONLY truth that He deals with. Objective truth. Outside human experience. Outside the physical reality of creation. The ONLY truth there is. It runs through everything because THEY run through everything. “And when all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will be subjected to the one who subjected everything to him, so that God may be all in all” (1 Corinthians 15:28). If we want to live in harmony with Him and be able to submit to Him, then we have to accept His viewpoint as true and accurate. Throughout scripture that viewpoint says: tell the truth with every word you say (Ephesians 4:25-28). It is not always comfortable, but it is always right, just, and freeing. Every lie we speak is a trap – whether we recognise it as one or not.
Start today. Right now. Make truth the thing you speak. Ask forgiveness from those you’ve lied to and speak truth to correct false impressions, if needed. Speak truth. If everything you say is true, there will be fewer and fewer ways that it will be uncomfortable to you. Speaking truth with love will never ruffle feathers when we word it HIS way. Be led by Ruach HaKodesh. He will never steer you wrong AND He only speaks truth. Let the truth set you free from wrong thinking. Let your tongue be the first thing healed. Handle it with care and let it help you set an atmosphere of truth around your life. Speak the truth. Always.
Daily Affirmation Jesus IS Messiah: Micah 5:2
“As for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, seemingly insignificant among the clans of Judah—from you a king will emerge who will rule over Israel on my behalf, one whose origins are in the distant past” Messiah would be born in Bethlehem. This is such an important point it was given again and again. This place, this small and insignificant place, would be THE birthplace of the Anointed One. Elohim uses the humble and raises it to glory. “After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, in the time of King Herod, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem saying, “Where is the one who is born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”” (Matthew 2:1-2). Adonai Elohim supernaturally announced the birth of Jesus. It was NOT hidden, but shouted from the heavens. And those who read the signs were pointed toward Bethlehem. “After assembling all the chief priests and experts in the law, he asked them where the Christ was to be born. “In Bethlehem of Judea,” they said, “for it is written this way by the prophet” (Matthew 2:4-5). Jesus was born in Bethlehem. Jesus IS the Messiah!
