Fear No Fear

“Then Isaac sowed in that land and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; the Lord blessed him” (Genesis 26:12, MEV). All Creation is fallen (Romans 8:20-21). Entropy has been active and pulling all of Creation down toward death, which is a process and tool of death. All the evolution we see in Creation is about the created animals and plants adjusting to a constantly deteriorating Creation. Consequently bad things happen. Add to that the free will of human beings who reject God in every way and human beings who are ignorant of God in every way, and you have MORE bad things happening. Yet, while we can be caught in bad circumstances, we do not have to experience them the same way as those human beings. Because WE are humans who DO know God and who EMBRACE God and His moral character and point of view. We can be in bad circumstances but not experience them the same way. Before the New Covenant and its better promises, before the Old Covenant which was the Law of Moses, before all of that, Isaac lived. He experienced a severe drought because of where he lived. He got a word from God and stayed where he was, instead of heading to a better region. During that drought he lived in the same circumstances as everyone else. But Isaac planted, tended, and then received a harvest. The harvest was not small. He was in the same drought as everyone else. He had the same challenges. The same circumstances. But Isaac was lifted ABOVE the circumstances by obeying what God told him. We too can be lifted up (James 4:10). We can be in the boat and not in the storm (Mark 4:38-40). If bad circumstances and situations try to come upon you to overwhelm you, run to God. Run to Jesus. Let Him lift you above them. You may still live in the same place as those circumstances and situations, but your EXPERIENCE in that place will be VERY DIFFERENT than those around you. YOU will be safe. YOU will be protected. YOU will be wrapped in God’s arms. If you will listen to Him, humbly submit and obey Him, your harvest in those circumstances will NOT be small – whether it is physical, emotional, financial, relational or any other way. God is a God who is MORE THAN ENOUGH for EVERY circumstance and EVERY situation. Run to Him and Rest in Him and let Him call the shots. It’ll be a bullseye EVERY time. We are His beloved children and our Father, our Source, will ALWAYS take care of us. He loves us.
