“But I tell you the truth, it is better for you that I go away. For if I do not go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.“
John 16:7
When bullies reared their heads, we told them to watch out or our older sibling would get them. Our Dads were always better than the other person’s Dad. We know the boss. We know the politician. We know the celebrity. As human beings, we have a process built into our psyche where we point to the bigger, better, more influential person when we get into trouble. It’s easy to see how this childhood habit continues throughout our lives. But it is a process we have because it was put into us when we received the likeness of Adonai (Genesis 1:26). It is a truth that Adonai is a HUGE name dropper.
When Jesus was giving the last of the last teaching to His disciples in the Upper Room during Passover, He talked to them about Ruach HaKodesh. He was EXCITED about it. Jesus talked Him up a LOT. Jesus dropped His name HARD. And not just His name. Jesus spoke about the ministry of Ruach HaKodesh, the companionship, pretty much a brief overview of what Ruach HaKodesh was all about. He implied the power of Ruach HaKodesh. Later, Jesus specifically told them to wait until the power of Ruach HaKodesh came upon them (Luke 24:49). Jesus could hardly WAIT until they got to meet Ruach HaKodesh PERSONALLY. Jesus STILL can hardly wait until we get to know Ruach HaKodesh.
Jesus also talked up His Father. Jesus was ALWAYS mentioning His Father. Jesus’ whole ministry was about doing what the Father showed Him (John 5:19&30; 6:38; 8:26; 14:31). In Jesus’ ministry He never said ANYTHING that the Father didn’t tell Him to say (John 8:28; 14:10 & 31). Jesus was so totally dedicated to His Father and so much a part of His Father that they were virtually the same (John 10:30; 14:8-9). Jesus was ALWAYS pointing to the Father. Jesus can’t WAIT until we get to see the Father face to face. Jesus is CONSTANTLY pointing us to the Father.
When we take a look at everything Ruach HaKodesh does, we find that He CONSTANTLY points to Jesus. One of the greatest aspects of Ruach HaKodesh’s ministry is that He reminds us of what Jesus has said to us (John 14:26). The reason it’s so great (beyond the value of everything Jesus says and teaches to us) is that He reminds us that Jesus gave us the RIGHT to use His name. We are ALLOWED and ENCOURAGED to be name droppers too. We have no authority in and of ourselves. We have no power in and of ourselves. We have no divine abilities. We are regular people. But Jesus lets us use HIS name. The Father works His power through Ruach HaKodesh who dwells inside of us. We are able to command healing because of HIM. We are able to perform signs and wonders because of HIM. We are able to see miracles come to pass because of HIM. It is through HIM and His commentary on the Word (revelation knowledge) that we come to understand Jesus’ love for us and His compassion for us. Without Ruach HaKodesh, we’d be in the same boat the disciples were during that last supper they shared with Jesus: hearing, but not understanding (which is a BAD place to be – Matthew 13:19).
“A tower of strength is the name of Yahweh; into him the righteous will run and be safe” (Proverbs 18:10). The name of Jesus is TREMENDOUS. We have the right to use it (John 14:12-14). We need to be careful not to incorrectly use it (2 Timothy 4:3). We need to trust in Him and believe in Him and rely on Him as Saviour and Lord to properly wield it (Acts 19:15). We need to use it to glorify Adonai and not try to get our own personal will to come to pass (James 4:3-6). But when we are Adonai-centred and relying on Ruach HaKodesh to guide us and trusting in Jesus, believing He can do what He said He can do, and humbly submitting to Jesus and our Lord and Saviour, nothing can stand against us (Romans 8:31). We are meant to be LIGHT in the darkness. A WITNESS to what Adonai can do. A WITNESS as to the love Jesus has for ALL people. A testimony that Jesus’ Name is above ALL names (Philippians 2:8-11). Jesus’ Name is the stamp of certification that brings to pass the Father’s will on this Earth.
THAT is why Ruach HaKodesh comes in Jesus’ name. THAT is why Ruach HaKodesh points to Jesus. THAT is why Ruach HaKodesh speaks on the authority of Jesus’ Name. THAT is why we should pay very close attention to whenever He drops Jesus’ name. Ruach HaKodesh name drops Jesus ALL the time, and we should be doing the same. It is a BEAUTIFUL name. It is a POWERFUL name. It is a name that glorifies the Father. In and through that name, all things that Adonai wills are possible. May we never forget or lose sight of that.
Daily Affirmation of the Goodness of Elohim: Acts 5:39
“But if it is from God, you will not be able to overthrow them, lest you even be found fighting against God.” So they were persuaded by him” The Father is the source of all power in and outside of Creation. He is THE power source for EVERYTHING. He is the ONLY uncreated thing in existence. He is it. Because of that, His will is accomplished. His plans cannot be defeated. We can delay things by our free will decisions, but that is only because Adonai is merciful and wishes all humanity to come to saving knowledge of Him. Adonai’s Word is powerful and His purposes come to pass (Isaiah 14:24). When we stand against it, it is futile. All we do is harm ourselves (Proverbs 24:15-16). All we do is kick against the goads (Acts 26:14). The wonderful thing is that Adonai wants to take us by the hand so that we can walk with Him through the things of His will (Matthew 19:26). He doesn’t leave us in a field wandering around. He comes to collect us and offers to be our guide. When we cooperate with Him, there is nothing that can stand against us because nothing can stand against Him. We are allowed to rest in Jesus. We are allowed to rely on Jesus. We have been given total access to the moral character of Adonai and permission to grow His fruit in our own spirits. We have been placed in heavenly places in and through Jesus. Adonai is ALWAYS victorious in the end and we have been embraced and brought into that victory through Jesus. What a GOOD God!
