Fear No Fear

“There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. Whoever fears is not perfect in love” (1 John 4:18, MEV). When riotous circumstances break out in the world, we can lie back and rest knowing that God loves us. It really is that simple, even though it isn’t always easy. But if we listen to Holy Spirit who reminds us of all things Jesus has said, we can do it. We need to remember who Jesus IS. We need to remember Jesus’ character. We need to remember what Jesus DID for us. When we do that, we can hold onto the truth that He loves us. If He loves us, He won’t bring trouble on us. Instead, He will be our strength when trouble comes. He won’t tempt us. Instead, He provides Himself as a way to escape temptation. He won’t test us. Instead, He allows others to test us because He knows He has equipped us to pass by relying on Him and we need to prove that to ourselves. He doesn’t use sickness or sin or evils to teach us lessons. Instead, He has provided the Word and its author Holy Spirit to teach us all things. When we find fear trying to come on us, we can remember all these things and kick it to the curb. It has no place in the lives of people who know the love Jesus has for them. And Jesus doesn’t hide His love. He presents it and proclaims His love for us. He SINGS over us. He is so VERY good to us. The more we realise and lean into that love, the easier everything else gets. Why? Because He loves us! His love is all we need.
