“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit” (Proverbs 18:21, MEV). The best preparation for troubled times is the Word of God. Learning to lean on His report and not the report of your health or your bank account or your government is VITAL to life in the Kingdom. You don’t IGNORE those things. You can’t pay rent with a bible verse. But by leaning into the Lord and listening to Him and relying on Him as your Source can lead you to opportunities that you never imagined. Job opportunities greater than you were taught to expect. What about avenues of revenue you hadn’t considered? What about helping someone or blessing someone without any recompense expected, but because you were obedient there are suddenly things coming your way? We don’t get into the Word to get things. Abundance takes discipline, though. Walking through troubled times takes an orderly mind. We get those things from the Word. We get training in our thinking. We get to start seeing things like God sees things. Overcoming instead of struggling. Relying on HIS strength, not yours. HIS resources, not yours. HIM, not you. He loves us too much not to tell us the game plan that is best for us in every situation. It’s our job to be listening and then obeying. The Word helps us to listen. It helps us to organize our minds. It is a breakthrough. It is full of His character and promises. It teaches us that we can trust Him. Every time. All the time. That’s the best news when trouble rises. That He loves us, that He is speaking to us, and that He can be trusted.
