“Your words were found and I ate them. And Your word became to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart, for I am called by Your name, O Lord God of Hosts” (Jeremiah 15:16. MEV). There was a type of candy when I was younger, I believe it still is produced, where you sucked away a hard candy coating to release a pocket of fizzy powder. The fizzy powder was always there, but it didn’t really do anything until it mixed with your saliva. Then it produced a foam of fizzy goodness to tingle your tongue. It’s the same principle as the small hard candies that pop once they interact with the saliva in your mouth. Nothing happens until they are mixed in our mouths. In the same way, the Word of God is more than just words to hear or letters on a printed page. They are FOOD to us. They mix within our hearts and produce a sustenance that is unparalleled. This Word is more than just words. It becomes JOY, releasing when it mixes with our trust in Jesus (Hebrews 4:2). We rejoice when we see the evidence of the JOY. It isn’t a feeling, but a state of being. Something we can engage anytime we want because it ALWAYS activates when we mix the Word with our Trust in Jesus. Amen. What a GREAT God we serve!
