“Blessed be God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble by the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4, MEV). We don’t always get it right. Sometimes we miss it. We are able to not be troubled (John 14:1). We don’t have to be anxious (Philippians 4:6). We don’t have to worry (Psalm 37). But sometimes we forget to choose the things Jesus accomplished for us. Sometimes we forget to engage HIS thinking. To replace our feelings with His Fruit (Galatians 5:22-23). To protect ourselves with His Armour (Ephesians 6:10-18). Sometimes, because we are not actively choosing to rest in Jesus, we have bad days. He doesn’t get mad at us. He doesn’t punish us. He holds us. He comforts us. He is there to BE comfort. To smile. Stroke our hair. And love us into a smile. His comfort doesn’t have to be reserved for tribulations and attacks. It doesn’t have to be reserved for disasters. We can accept His comfort ANY TIME WE NEED IT. He LOVES us. He is here, right here, to comfort us. We can lean back on Him and just BE.
