where he is now waiting until his enemies are made a footstool for his feet.
Hebrews 10:13 (emphasis added)
Sin didn’t enter the world when the devil convinced the snake to let him work against Adam through Eve. Sin didn’t enter when Eve got tempted (therefore temptation isn’t a sin). Sin didn’t enter when Eve focused her thoughts and attention on the tree. Sin didn’t enter when Eve tested the tree. Sin didn’t enter when Eve ate the fruit. Sin didn’t enter when Adam saw all this and did nothing – but it could have because that was the first stage of his rebellion. Sin entered when Adam disobeyed the command. That was why it didn’t enter when Adam did nothing – he hadn’t been given that explicit command (we have – James 4:17). The one to whom the command is given is the one held accountable. That’s why Merciful Elohim didn’t impute individual sins before the Law. It was happening, but He didn’t hold it against people who hadn’t had its wrongness explained to them. But when we KNOW, when we have been given the COMMAND, we are responsible. Sobering thought.
Sickness is a descendant of sin. Sin and death and conjoined. Sickness is death practising. And death is thrilled when it succeeds in turning a sickness into the goal of death. All sickness is your body trying to die in some way. Death was NEVER the will of Yahweh. It was NOT part of the plan. It became part of the curse. “By the sweat of your brow you will eat food until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you will return” (Genesis 3:19). So sin is responsible for death. That means sin is responsible for sickness (whether infirmity, sickness, disease, or conditions) which is ‘little death’. Whether it is because of sin in the world (Sin that corrupted Creation) or the things we do that aren’t in harmony with Adonai (personal sins of humans), sin causes sickness. It is NOT natural. If it isn’t natural, it isn’t from Elohim and it is not part of the plan. It is something to be RESCUED from, not accepted. It is something to reject, not take for granted. We have THOUSANDS of ways to ‘deal’ with it from home remedies to cultural remedies to medicines to surgeries to coping mechanisms to therapies. But all we need to do is to be in harmony with Adonai Elohim. “After this Jesus found him at the temple and said to him, “Look, you have become well. Don’t sin any more, lest anything worse happen to you.”” (John 5:14). Jesus clearly links sin with sickness (again it can be Sin or personal sins). Jesus also clearly linked wholeness with Himself. “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come so that they may have life, and may have it abundantly” (John 10:10). If we accept His offer by submitting to His Lordship – recognising His rightful place and His payment of Sin – we have every RIGHT to wholeness.
It doesn’t happen automatically. It happens the same way we get saved. Acknowledging the process (1 Peter 2:24), His payment (Isaiah 53:5; Matthew 8:16-17), and engaging our trust on it (James 5:15 – which ALSO links sin and sickness). The question is NOT when Adonai will do something. He did it on and through the cross, so it is released and available to us for INSTANTANEOUS access. The question is when we will mix our trust with His Word and believe Him for it. That is when time comes into it. It can take us time to flick that switch inside us and engage His healing of our body. It’s necessary to SEE it. We see it through the Word. Put yourself into every healing passage of scripture. Imagine it happening to you. Imagine how your body is when it’s whole. Imagine what you’ll do, how you’ll dress, and how you’ll feel. See it in your mind’s eye. Apply the promises of the Word to it – making sure to be in harmony with Adonai. Listen to Ruach HaKodesh on it. He’ll tell you if something is hindering you. If an attitude or a thought needs to be changed. He’ll even speak to you about how to do it. Adonai WANTS us in harmony with Him. He WANTS a relationship with us. He LOVES us. He loved us enough to create us. He loved us enough to make a way back to Him from sinful rebellion – BEFORE we did it. He loved us enough to sacrifice for us. He loved us enough to give us His trust so we could use it to believe in Him and accept the way He made. He loved us enough to instruct us, correct us, guide us, and equip us so that we can be in a relationship with Him and speak/act/think in a way that is in harmony with Him. He’s done it ALL from love. We need to believe it and receive it – also from love. Love is the lynchpin of the whole Kingdom.
He meets us where we are (John 20:24-29). He can turn anything to His Glory (Revelation 4:11; 1 Peter 4:11). He is extremely patient with us (2 Peter 3:9). It is up to us how much revelation we take from the Word when He uses it to renew our thinking (Romans 12:2). Just because we are renewed doesn’t mean we’re using our new mindset to make decisions. Just because we can see something doesn’t mean we’re choosing to believe it or choosing to trust that Adonai was/is telling the truth. Usually we accept the basics, but decide that the rest either isn’t for us or isn’t for right now. But what good would saving us do if we’re left in exactly the same circumstances? If there was no change to our lives? If we get saved and have to wait (potentially) decades to enjoy it, then what kind of saving was it? I don’t know about you, but I want more than a promissory note. I want the real deal.
Yes, it means submission. But instead of submission to be deprived, this is submission to be more. This is a richer life based on better things. The things I used to do and no longer partake in fall into exactly two categories. First, sinful behaviour. Second, stuff that’s worse than what I have now. That’s it. There’s nothing else. I choose to reject sinful behaviour – and am grateful for the correction once I’ve dealt with it. I don’t bother to do those things that aren’t sinful, but just don’t pull me anymore. I don’t desire them. I have better things. There is stuff that I can fondly remember as being enjoyable when I didn’t know better, but now that I know better it doesn’t have a hook. It doesn’t interest me. It’s looking at a beater of a car that took me to great places and served me well, but looking while owning a luxury vehicle with all the bells and whistles but none of the problems. I’ll fondly remember the beater. But I won’t drive it anymore. I have something better. Well, in Jesus I have something better. Maybe I USED to get sick in the Fall. Maybe I USED to get colds. Maybe I USED to have infections. But in Jesus, I have something better. I have health. I have wholeness. I can SEE it. I read the promises about my health and speak them out. I believe that my trust in Jesus is NOT misplaced. I don’t have to submit to the ‘natural’ rules of life. I’m wall to wall Ruach HaKodesh and Jesus. I’m the Righteousness of Elohim because I’m in Jesus. He did away with sin. I’m certainly not going to accept sin’s junior mint. No thank you. We can be free if we WANT to be free because Jesus SAYS we can be free and WITH Him, ALL things are possible.
If you can’t see that, really SEE it, get out the Word and let it renew your mind so you can take hold of that revelation and engage it in your life. These are HIS promises, not mine. This is HIS will, not mine. I’m cooperating with Him. Are you? You CAN. Mix the Word with your trust and see how it affects every single aspect of your life for the better. Put sin and it’s little death under your feet where they belong.
Daily Affirmation Jesus IS Messiah: Malachi 3:3
“He will act like a refiner and purifier of silver and will cleanse the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Then they will offer the Lord a proper offering.” Messiah would purge our sins. Not just cover them temporarily like in the sacrificial system of the Old Covenant, but to completely and totally remove them from off of us. “Because of our God’s tender mercy, the dawn will break upon us from on high” (Luke 1:78). “The true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world” (John 1:9). “I have come as a light into the world, so that everyone who believes in me should not remain in darkness” (John 12:46). “Moreover, we possess the prophetic word as an altogether reliable thing. You do well if you pay attention to this as you would to a light shining in a murky place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts” (2 Peter 1:19). “just as I have received the right to rule from my Father—and I will give him the morning star” (Revelation 2:28). “Then I saw heaven opened and here came a white horse! The one riding it was called “Faithful” and “True,” and with justice he judges and goes to war. His eyes are like a fiery flame and there are many diadem crowns on his head. He has a name written that no one knows except himself. He is dressed in clothing dipped in blood, and he is called the Word of God. The armies that are in heaven, dressed in white, clean, fine linen, were following him on white horses. From his mouth extends a sharp sword so that with it he can strike the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod, and he stomps the winepress of the furious wrath of God, the All-Powerful. He has a name written on his clothing and on his thigh: “King of kings and Lord of lords.”” (Revelation 19:11-16). ““I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star!”” (Revelation 22:16). Jesus paid for sin. Jesus removed them from us. Jesus IS the Messiah!
