This has been quite a year. It was good to get this site up and running, collecting 2023’s Year of No Fear devotional, 2024’s Healing Wings devotional, and 2025’s Wings of Wisdom devotionals all in one place. It was also nice to be able to add the Dip the Toe Bible summary and the year’s Daily Affirmations. This is also the first time we’ve started providing mini-books. When I look at the body of material and add to it all the events that happened over this year, I feel like we all should be exhausted. Yet I am not, and neither are many other believers around the globe.
“Then he said to them, “Go, eat festive food and drink sweet drinks, and send a share to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our lord. Do not be grieved because the joy of Yahweh is your refuge.”” (Nehemiah 8:10). Consistent and unrepentant joy in the Lord and what He has done. That’s the secret to never being weary. Whether you have been beaten and put into chains (Acts 16:25). Whether you are being nailed to a cross (Hebrews 12:2). Or whether you are being brought before the authorities and told to shut your mouth or else (Acts 5:41). It is focusing on the JOY of the Lord and choosing to REJOICE ALWAYS that opens the door to His strength flowing through us. “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say, rejoice. Let your gentleness be made known to all people. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:4-7).
It doesn’t matter what 2026 brings, because God has ALREADY seen it (Isaiah 46:10). He has already made a plan – no matter if the world as we know it comes crashing down (Jeremiah 29:11). If we CHOOSE to rely on Him, if we CHOOSE to make Him our Source, if we CHOOSE to believe His Word, and if we CHOOSE to trust Him to do what He says He can and will do; then we will have a smooth year – regardless of the number of bumps or the fierceness of the storm. We don’t count smoothness by the circumstances we are in. We count smoothness by the reliability of our destination. The eagerness of our expectation. The firmness of our foundation. And if Jesus IS that foundation, then we have NOTHING to worry or be anxious about (James 4:7). We can CHOOSE not to be troubled because we can CHOOSE to see HIM and not the circumstances. We don’t ignore them, but they don’t have a hold on our consciousness. The world went through a pandemic a few years ago and if it wasn’t for differences in how we shopped for food, we wouldn’t have known it was going on. Because we chose to let Him lead us. Took steps when He said to. Didn’t move if He didn’t. We didn’t do everything perfectly, but we followed Him in spite of our own thinking and persevered. It was a smooth time with no lack. The same will be true in 2026.
Our prayers are with you. May you be BLESSED in this new year. Your hearts and your hearths full of the love of Jesus. We pray you lean into Holy Spirit. Take His offered hand and let Him point you to Jesus in every way, every day. Trust in the Lord. He will NEVER fail. He will NEVER steer you wrong. He is FAITHFUL. He is MERCIFUL. And above all, He is SO, SO, SO VERY GOOD!
2026 will bring more daily affirmations of His love as well as two new series. Nested in Him – a thematic daily reading of the Word – and the beginning of Take the Plunge: A Verse by Verse Journey. I expect the latter to take more than just a single year, but I also anticipate it to be well worth the walking.
I leave you with one of my favourite prayers in the Word and I wish you all the best in Jesus our Lord.
“On account of this, I bend my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that he may grant you according to the riches of his glory to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner person, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith (you having been firmly rooted and established in love), in order that you may be strong enough to grasp together with all the saints what is the breadth, and length, and height, and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, in order that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. Now to the one who is able to do beyond all measure more than all that we ask or think, according to the power that is at work in us, to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:14-21)
