2026 Daily Affirmation #14

But for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist. And there is one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist” (1 Corinthians 8:6, MEV). When we think of God as our Source or as our foundation, we don’t always include the idea of ‘all’. We tend to think of Him like a parent, where we are going to Him to ask for a thing. Or He is giving us a thing. He ends up being the IDEA that we found our thinking on. The starting point of a value system. Those are not bad ways of thinking of Him, but they are not ‘all’ thinking. The foundation is certainly the concrete slab upon which your building is built. But it is also the support beams and wiring that is throughout your home. It is the entirety of the structure that is required for your home to function. Without wires and plugs, how could you receive electricity? Without studs and beams how could you have walls or a ceiling? Without nails and screws, how could anything stay up? Our ‘foundation’ is more than the single thing we build on. Our ‘source’ is the starting point, true, but it is also everything that flows FROM that starting point. For example, the source of your income from employment might be your job. But that job includes every conversation, decision, client, meeting, phone call, electronic beep, and everything else that makes up your day. It is focused into a single paycheque, but a LOT went in to make it that. In these same ways God is our foundation and our Source. He is part of everything we do. He is the starting point for every blessing and every beginning. He is our actual employer and the actual source of our income. He provides the job that pays us. The opportunities that bless us with work (not toil). He is the structure that our lives hang on. Not a single slab, but the infrastructure that underpins everything from what we base our emotions on, to our chores, to our sex lives, to our relationships, to our food choices, to everything. He is part of it ALL. He IS all things to us when you really get to looking at it. We are WITH HIM and NOT separate. Not in ANY way. He loves us and is seeking to be a part of our lives. If we’ll let Him, He will guide us and teach us and correct us and lead us and fellowship with us, not just as a friend, but also as our Lord and Saviour!
