Nested in Him: Genesis 36; Matthew 14

(All scripture from the World English Bible, ebible.org, all rights reserved)

Esau took his wives, his sons, his daughters, and all the members of his household, with his livestock, all his animals, and all his possessions, which he had gathered in the land of Canaan, and went into a land away from his brother Jacob. For their substance was too great for them to dwell together, and the land of their travels couldn’t bear them because of their livestock.
(Genesis 36:6-7)

They told him, “We only have here five loaves and two fish.” He said, “Bring them here to me.” He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass; and he took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. They all ate and were filled. They took up twelve baskets full of that which remained left over from the broken pieces.
(Matthew 14:17-20)

God is GENEROUS. He WANTS to bless us. AND He keeps His promises. Esau had rejected the Lord and all his responsibilities in life, but he was still a son of Issac who was a son of Abraham and the promises of ABUNDANT offspring were still before the Lord. When you’re blessed you are BLESSED. When you have little, God can make it a lot. Think of it this way. You have natural. He has super. Let Him put HIS super on YOUR natural. He meets us where we are and works with what we have, but He can SUPERNATURALLY make it last, make it renew, and make it multiply. If you’re willing to cooperate with Him, and if you’ll do what He says according to His timeline, then there is no reason why you won’t walk in the FULLNESS of His blessing. He blesses His obedient children. That blessing is meant to be SHARED. To FILL the Earth, not sit in our pockets and homes. It’s a blessing meant to bring Glory to God. To be a witness to how GOOD He is. We’re willing to share, we work with what we have, and He blesses it in supernatural abundance. It works in every area of life. He is just THAT good to us.

Summary

God’s promises hold true. So we should hold to them too. We should seek to emulate the blessing of Abraham: a blessing given so that WE can be a blessing to the world around us. If we will do things God’s way, giving thanks to Him at every stage, there is no reason why He won’t get the glory. And giving Him the glory is key to truly embracing abundance. He is our SOURCE, so we should thank Him and thank Him also for the opportunity to bless those around us. We shouldn’t keep such a good thing to ourselves.
