Fear No Fear

“I will both lie down in peace and sleep; for You, Lord, make me dwell safely and securely” (Psalm 4:8. MEV). The Lord is the ultimate solution to sleeplessness. On the one hand, if you find you can’t sleep, He is there to talk to. He never sleeps (Psalm 121:4). Holy Spirit lives INSIDE you (1 Corinthians 3:16), so He’s always there. Why not spend some time praising Him? Worshipping Him? Listening to Him? Talking to Him? There is no better way to spend this extra time than with our Lord. On the other hand, if you find you can’t sleep, His hands are there for you. There for you to lie down in (Psalm 31:5). There for you to put your problems on (1 Peter 5:7). If your mind is racing, won’t let go of something that happened that day, or dread something you face tomorrow, He has hands big enough to take it over from you. To take it from you. If you give it over to Him, He’ll have it. He has the solution for it. He has the roadmap to navigate the consequences of it – good or bad. We serve a God who LOVES us. What is important to us is important to Him. His perspective on it, however, will be superior to ours. When we get close to Him, we will find His peace (2 Thessalonians 3:16). His presence is calming and in it we find our rest (Exodus 33:14). He loves us and will help us – even with something as ‘small’ as a good night’s sleep.
