Fear No Fear

“We had the sentence of death in ourselves, so that we would not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead” (2 Corinthians 1:9, MEV). There isn’t much left when you kill someone. Not on this side of the veil, anyway. There’s a body. Flesh. And it doesn’t last too long at all. Spiritually speaking, our old selves were killed. They died. There is nothing that they were that is around anymore. We cannot take comfort in the old patterns. We cannot rely on the strength of the old nature. It’s dead. It has no strength. It has no patterns. It is inert and done. Gonzo. Instead, we have been placed IN JESUS. Our trust is in Him who RAISED Jesus. Who delivered the Son to LIFE. This is the life WE were delivered to. Our pattern of behaviour is JESUS. Our strength is the JOY OF THE LORD. Everything we have is found in Jesus, and in Jesus we find everything we need. When we feel like we’re at the end of our rope. At the end of ourselves. We need to remember that it is a GOOD thing, because that’s where life in Jesus STARTS. That’s the NEW BEGINNING that we have been given. Jesus loved us into Himself. Into the place of BLESSING. Into the JOY OF THE LORD. Into where He can help us and provide for us and guide us into even greater depths of His love. We don’t have to rely on ourselves. We’re allowed to, empowered, and encouraged to rely on Jesus who loves us.
