2026 Daily Affirmation #43

Therefore let us no longer pass judgment on one another, but rather determine not to put a stumbling block or an obstacle in a brother’s way” (Romans 14:13, MEV). We don’t think about each other enough. We were meant to though (John 13:34-35). God loves us and we are meant to love one another. Not just to be kind to one another, but also to take other people into consideration. We might be secure in Jesus in a given area of our lives, but someone else might not. Our automatic reaction is to say ‘so what’. That’s their problem. We aren’t going to deny ourselves just because they have a problem. But that isn’t love. Love isn’t an argument about whether you’re having a mocktail (non-alcoholic cocktail) out in public. Love is that someone passing by might see it, assume you are drinking, and think that drinking (at any amount) isn’t a problem for a believer (despite prohibitions in the Word about getting drunk). It just sets up other people for failure. And most of the time, it isn’t a big deal to keep from causing wires to cross. Paul talks in detail about it. Just because we can do a thing, doesn’t mean that it’s wise to do it. We need to think of others BEFORE ourselves. We need to consider their feelings and their position. We need to honour each other and work together to be better in Jesus, secure in Jesus, and completely FREE in Jesus. That’s what love is all about. That’s why Jesus came.
