The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees of the garden
Genesis 3:2

The woman answered the snake. This tells us that speaking with this animal was not unusual in the same way we know that God continued to speak to human beings after they left the garden because of Cain’s non-reaction to hearing from God (Genesis 4:6-7). When we encounter unusual circumstances, there is always a reaction sooner or later. The humans here NEVER react, so logically it was not unusual.

The woman said to the serpent“. This was the WRONG reaction. God’s Word had been challenged. This should not have been engaged with. We don’t need to answer challenges to what we KNOW God said. In fact, by engaging with it we can open the door to problems. When someone questions God’s CLEAR Word, we should be suspicious of them. We should be on our guard. The woman could claim ignorance, but we cannot. The devil is CONSTANTLY trying to draw us away from God’s Word and to discredit God’s Word. It’s one thing to be intellectually curious or to prove something true. It’s another thing altogether to engage thoughts that are contrary to God’s Word. Those kinds of thoughts should be rebuked.

“We may eat fruit from the trees of the garden” She should have stopped there. That was what they could do. There were MANY trees to eat from. MANY kinds of fruit. We should always focus on the BOUNTY that God has provided. When we do, we NEVER feel lack. He is a GOOD God and ALWAYS provides for our needs bountifully.
