2026 Daily Affirmation #59

I no longer call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master does. But I have called you friends, for everything that I have heard from My Father have I made known to you” (John 15:15, MEV). Jesus is our friend. Isn’t that REMARKABLE? God Himself. Calling you and me His friends. I don’t think we give enough weight to that in our day to day lives. He isn’t a distant friend. Someone in a far country who we only connect with via email or the occasional phone call. He’s a close friend. An intimate friend. He is full of love for us. He’s the friend that comes over at a moment’s notice to help. The one who lives next door and with whom your lives are entwined. The kind of friend where nothing seems real – good or bad – until it is shared with them. This freedom we have to share with Jesus our LIVES needs reaffirmation on a consistent basis. Too easily we ignore the friendship. The unique relationship we have with God. The closeness and togetherness that God pioneered from the very beginning – creating us with His own hands and breathing into us His own breath. It is a sign of His love that He never put us down. He never turned away. He kept providing ways for us to learn the Way to Him: Jesus, the Anointed One. He loves us enough to listen to us, lead us, guide us, correct us, and be a part of our lives – big and small. That is a LOT of love. And He has it for each and every one of us. God LOVES you.
