Fear No Fear

“We love Him because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19, MEV). God told Noah in Genesis 9 that seed time and harvest would last as long as the Earth did. That’s great news, because God’s first seed into humanity was the seed of His love. If we let it, it will bring in a harvest of love. We will respond to it and love Him back. When we love Him, we seek to worship and please Him because He is God. It is the natural result of being loved by God. Even among us humans, we are more likely to respond favourably to someone who loves us. Their love opens our eyes to who they are and their feelings open up our own to the possibility of returning them. Of course it doesn’t always work out with humans. Sometimes our love is already elsewhere and sometimes it is simply inappropriate. But with God it is ALWAYS appropriate. Our love toward God also IMPROVES our own capacity and purity of our own love – ours for Him and ours for each other. God’s love is a foundational, life-changing, and invigorating force for TRUTH, GOOD, and BLESSING. It is THE reality that makes the rest of our lives worth living (John 10:10). It is freeing, it is a blessing, and it is the best gift that could ever have been given to any of us. God LOVES us and because of that, life is worth living.
