Fear No Fear

“Therefore if the Son sets you free, you shall be free indeed” (John 8:36, MEV). Jesus sets us free. Totally free. We don’t have to remember those cringey moments from our past with cringe. Jesus can remove the negative emotion and replace it with His love. We don’t need to remember the bad things we’ve done. We don’t need to remember the bad things that have been done to us. Not with the negativity attached to them. Jesus can replace those emotions with His Fruit. We are not at the mercy of the devil’s rewind button. We are FREE. The pain can be removed. The soundtrack can be different. Jesus can edit the ‘film’ so that we are seeing HIS version of the events, and not ours. He can take a horror and turn it into a mere documentary – but not one that hurts us. He can take drama and make it a feel-good slice of life. He can transform our selves so that we are seeing what He sees, so that HE is the focus and not the thing that happened. Everything that was designed to bring us down and hook us into a negative spiral or cause anxiety or soak us in depression can be transformed, transfigured, and transported through the cross into a victory for Jesus and a simple memory for us. The pain will go. The shame will dissolve. The anxiety will wither. And the depression will evaporate. Jesus FREES us COMPLETELY because He loves us so thoroughly.
