“I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And when I turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks, and in the midst of the seven candlesticks was one like a Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and with a golden sash wrapped around the chest” (Revelation 1:12-13, MEV). Even though Jesus sent His angel to show John the revelation the Father had given Him for John (Revelation 1:1), Jesus STILL makes a personal appearance. He doesn’t come in the dark. He doesn’t sneak. He appears right in the middle of the light. Right where we can see Him. Right in the middle of the symbols for the churches. Right where we are. Bright and shining. He doesn’t make us work. He makes us THINK and He makes us CHOOSE. He loves us. That isn’t a question. Him showing up, right in the middle, right at the beginning, right where we are, right where we can see Him; it shows us the questions. Do WE love Him enough to listen to Him? Do WE trust Him enough to obey? His words to us aren’t suggestions. They’re commands. If we love Him enough to listen to His commands, we should trust Him enough to obey them. Not rocket science. Not theological conundrums. Basic choices. Basic decisions. He shows us again and again and again how much He loves us. What are we showing Him? Will we put our trust in Him? We don’t need to see the big picture. We don’t need to understand what’s behind the storm. All we need to do is see the cross and ask if we trust Him. He did that for us. Do we believe Him? In His love? If we do, we should listen and obey. Period. End of issue. He loves you. Love Him back.
