“He who believes in him is not judged. He who doesn’t believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only born Son of God” (John 3:18, MEV). People like to vilify belief in God because they say a loving God wouldn’t send anyone to Hell. That their Grandmother MUST be in heaven because she was a good person. Or that they are a good person and so will do fine. Truth is though, God doesn’t send ANYONE to Hell. People CHOOSE to go to Hell. People are sending themselves because they are refusing to believe in Jesus – not believe He existed (or exists), but believe He is the One True Son, God, Saviour and Lord. That He died for our sins so that when we choose Him as Lord, we get to not go to Hell. We humans always want to performance it. We’re good, they’re good, people are doing good, etc. But it isn’t about what we do. It never was. We weren’t being good when Jesus chose to pay the price for Sin (Romans 5:10). In fact, NOTHING had been created when Jesus made that choice (Revelation 13:8). So if Jesus didn’t choose to be Saviour because of our PERSONAL sins, how could our PERSONAL good actions save us? They can’t. Sin entered creation because a sinless human chose to rebel. Sin could only be paid for when a sinless human chose to obey – even though it meant suffering and death. Jesus saved us because He created us in love, wants us to exist, and wants a relationship with us. He LOVED us enough to die for us before we were born. Before we knew about Him. Before we could prove to ourselves that we love Him by obeying Him. His love didn’t start because of our actions. His love isn’t dependent on our actions. His love isn’t dependent on anything except His moral character. That is why it is a safe place, a tower, a fortress. That is why it provides so much protection. All we need to do is humbly submit and accept it. When we do, everything changes. It changes how we think, how we act, and most importantly where we are headed. When we choose to live in Jesus, we get to live in Him ALWAYS.
