“God is not a man, that he should lie,
nor a son of man, that he should repent.
Has he said, and he won’t do it?
Or has he spoken, and he won’t make it good?
Behold, I have received a command to bless.
He has blessed, and I can’t reverse it.”
(Numbers 23:19-20)
“Jesus therefore answered them, “Most certainly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father doing. For whatever things he does, these the Son also does likewise. For the Father has affection for the Son, and shows him all things that he himself does. He will show him greater works than these, that you may marvel. For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom he desires. For the Father judges no one, but he has given all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He who doesn’t honor the Son doesn’t honor the Father who sent him.“
(John 5:19-23)
Balak wanted to curse the Israelites so that his kingdom and his position would not in any way be threatened. He wanted Balaam to curse them because Balaam was a professional curser and as far as Balak was concerned as long as you paid for it, gods did what you wanted. That’s what they were there for. And that IS what idols are there for. They are demonic altars where we are tricked into giving our authority to demonic powers so that the demonic powers are able to steal the power we’ve been authorized to use in order to do things we want. But that is not how GOD ALMIGHTY works. Yah isn’t our plaything. Yahweh isn’t someone to manipulate. We aren’t trying to get what WE want done, we are trying to align ourselves with what HE wants done. What The Great I AM decrees to happen WILL happen – whether we are involved in it or not. What He says, goes. It can’t be gotten around. We can TRY to fight it, but it won’t work. When He decrees something, it WILL be. Period.
Jesus knew that. Jesus, as a human being, totally accepted and submitted to that. He did NOTHING that the Father didn’t show Him. And Jesus was EXCITED to be shown things. Ordinary things AND peak experiences. Both have a place in our lives because both had a place in Jesus’ life. Jesus’ life wasn’t about fame. It wasn’t about showmanship. He had money, so much money He freely gave it away – but He wasn’t about being rich. He had access to resources, He could use boats whenever He wanted to – but it wasn’t about amassing a fleet. He had followers, followers who could support Him militarily if He wanted – but He wasn’t about force or the natural flows of government. Jesus was about a single thing this first time He came to minister: getting our eyes back on God and our heart back on the scriptures. Realising the meaning behind what sacrifice was, what the price of sin was, and our right response to God when He made a Way for us to enter into true relationship with Him, which is what eternal life is (John 17:3). If we don’t accept Jesus for who He is and what He did for us, we can’t accept the Father either.
Summary
Our lives aren’t about what we want, what we think, and what we desire. Our lives are about realising and accepting that what GOD things, wants, and desires is SO MUCH BETTER than anything WE had in mind. That God is TRUE. That God is RIGHTEOUS. And that Jesus is the Way to the Father. The Way to be connected with God in a relationship. The Way to be able to humbly submit and therefore naturally seek to obey. The Way to experience His love as a manifest reality in our lives and through that actual experience, be able to love those around us in the same way. To experience the life-changing BLESSING and be able to BLESS others the same way. Not to buck against what God wants, but to participate in what He decreed. It’s going to happen anyway. He’s going to get His way. It WILL occur. Who wouldn’t want to be part of that? To be on the winning side? To experience all the best that we can experience? To go with Him no matter WHAT that means and no matter WHERE we end up? To accept that He is who He is, and that is the BEST THING EVER. To HONOUR Him. To HONOUR Jesus. To HONOUR Holy Spirit. And to align ourselves with THEIR Way of thinking.
