“Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God. Believe also in Me” (John 14:1, MEV). Jesus loves us enough to let us choose our mood. He doesn’t do it by simply telling us not to worry, not to be anxious, not to be depressed, or not to be sad. He tells us to choose to replace our feelings with what HE provides. It isn’t ‘just smile’ therapy, but a REPLACEMENT. Feelings, like stress, aren’t something WE generate within ourselves. They are something that come at us from the outside. Feelings are the same as our other senses. They are INFORMATION. And like the information of temperature, we can either suffer under our feelings or we can CHOOSE to alter our situation. With temperature we can turn on the heat, or turn it down. We can put on warmer clothes or cooler clothes. We can turn on the air conditioning or open a window, or do the opposite. We can change the temperature. In the exact same way, we can CHOOSE to utilize what Jesus is lovingly offering us, or we can choose to be stuck with what is coming upon us. Jesus is always with us. We can’t forget Him – though we can choose to ignore Him. Holy Spirit is always pointing us toward Jesus. Always reminding us who we can be in Jesus. Always showing us what Jesus has provided to us. They’re like the wonder twins, but they’re asking us to accept their power. Their Fruit. We can both pick up their fruit AND seed it into our hearts to grow our own. They’re the emergency supply AND the long game. They are EVERYTHING we need and they make it available to us ALL day and ALL night ALL the year round. We are NEVER without the choice to believe what God told us and accept what He offers. Jesus never wants to leave us at the mercy of a feeling. Jesus always wants us to be free to have the best of the best of the best – which what He offers us. Jesus loves us that much.
