Fear No Fear

“Adonai said to Moshe, These are the names of the men who will take possession of the land for you: El‘azar the cohen and Y’hoshua the son of Nun.”
(Numbers 34:16-17)

““I have said these things to you so that, united with me, you may have shalom. In the world, you have tsuris. But be brave! I have conquered the world!”“
(John 16:33)

God designated two men who would possess the land and divide it among the people – who would be in charge of that. When the work of taking the Land was done, these two men (one a priest and the other the leader of the people) would legally possess it on behalf of the people of Israel in order to then divide the Land into parcels that would then be possessed by the individual tribes and families. They had to have it before they gave it. It was to be done properly and not haphazardly. It was to be done so that the people could live in the rest God had meant for them.

Jesus did the work for us. He accomplished it. He finished it. He possessed it. Because He did it for us, He is able to give it to us. He did it legally – paying the price for Sin by CHOICE without in ANY way deserving it. He did it so that He could give the finished work to us. We can receive it if we will believe it and engage it. Salvation was accomplished on our behalf so that we can rest in Jesus. So that we can rely on the relationship with God that we were always meant to have. So that we can possess – forever and without end – the abundant Life Jesus overcame to provide.

Summary

We can have what we believe and receive from Jesus. We don’t get what we deserve. We get what He provided for us that we believe Him about and receive from Him. When we hit an area of our lives where we don’t seem to be spiritually thriving (EVERYTHING comes from spiritually thriving – 3 John 2) it will be because it’s an area that we DON’T believe Jesus and we AREN’T receiving what He has for us. He overcame EVERYTHING. The WORLD. We should be walking in that overcoming and resting in Him. We need to believe Him and receive it. That’s why He possessed it for us. So we could – in Him – have and enjoy it.
