Fear No Fear

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreads out its roots by the river, and shall not fear when heat comes, but its leaf shall be green, and it shall not be anxious in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit” (Jeremiah 17:7-8, MEV). A great shakeup is coming. Everyone can see it – although the world thinks it will be because of the actions of humanity. God is going to move. Things are going to happen. They will certainly be big. From our perspective they may be catastrophic. It may disrupt the economy. The food supply chain. Electricity. The internet might go down. There may be earthquakes and eruptions. Shifting coastlines or tidal waves. Perhaps even increased tsunamis or hurricanes. Who knows. The world is clearly spiralling and there will be something that comes out of that spin. We are told that God is the One who has a plan. An actual, real, meets-our-needs plan. We loves us and desires for us to be safe. Sheltered. Protected. In the boat in the storm, not at the mercy of the storm. Above was is happening, not crushed beneath it. He demonstrates that love for us by being there for us. If we will trust in Him and put our eager expectation in Him, we won’t need to fear. Food supply issues? Not for us. Interruption of city services? Not a problem for us. Whether through supernatural miracle or well-placed natural phenomena, only God can arrange for our needs to be met. And He will. If we respond to His love by humbling submitting to Him and LETTING Him be our Source, even the worst, most Earth-shaking calamities will be something we don’t be terrified in. Because we know that the Earth might rock, roll, and spin oddly; but WE are in the hands of the One who LOVES us. And He ALWAYS sets us on our feet.
