The first book and the first words of that book are the same. The first words are the foundation of the first sentence. And the first sentence sets up the whole rest of the bible. Not kidding. It is worth a bit of a dive because it is foundational to the concept that the Lord knew what He was doing from before anything was created and has gone with that plan the whole time, will continue with it, and it will be fulfilled in every way. It’s the idea that God doesn’t change (by definition He is objective and exists without us, doesn’t need us to exist, and if none of us never knew anything about Him He would still exist) – Micah 3:6 and Hebrews 13:8. The theme of this verse is the same as the famous John 3:16-18.
“For in this way God loved the world, so that he gave his one and only Son, in order that everyone who believes in him will not perish, but will have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world in order that he should judge the world, but in order that the world should be saved through him. The one who believes in him is not judged, but the one who does not believe has already been judged, because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God” (John 3:16-18 LEB). Jesus came to save us, not to judge us. To redeem us, not to imprison us.
The first verse of Genesis is: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth-“. The Hebrew word ‘Bereshit’ is BEGINNING – the ‘in the’ is implied. So the first word of the Hebrew bible was BEGINNING. The letters used in that word are slightly different than what are usually used. Due to sizing and emphasis marks, there are seven different letter groups formed of that word. If you put them in order, that single word can read: The Son of God with thorns on His head hangs on a tree as a gift to give covenant. That is the heart of John 3:16-18.
If you combine those ideas, the first verse of the Word reads: The Son of God with thorns on His head hangs on a tree as a gift to give covenant; beginning by creating the heavens and the earth-
This is the story of the Word. This is the story we will see play out. This is the Love of Yahweh made scripture made flesh made sacrifice. All to bring us back to where He is. This is THE love story.
