Daily Affirmation #315

I can do nothing of Myself. As I hear, I judge. My judgment is just, because I seek not My own will, but the will of the Father who sent Me” (John 5:30, MEV). Jesus came and set for us an example by what He did. 1 Peter 2:21-25 talks clearly about it. Paul agreed in 1 Corinthians 11:1. Historically, though, we have only really latched onto the suffering part. The persecution part. The struggle to follow Him in spite of our fleshly desires part. And there is truth to that. We do get persecuted because of our devotion to Jesus. We do wage war against the strongholds of our broken thinking. There is suffering in life and every human being takes part in that in one way or another. Jesus experienced all of that. But Jesus ALWAYS walked in victory. Jesus ALWAYS overcame. Jesus accomplished that because He didn’t seek His own will. He didn’t try to do what HE wanted. He looked to the Father and ONLY worked, ONLY spoke, ONLY acted, and ONLY focused His thoughts on what the Father wanted – not that He wasn’t tempted in His thoughts, He was just like us. But Jesus put away things that came up which were not in accordance with the Father’s Will. He chose to walk with the Father and give glory to the Father in everything. Every aspect of His life. Consequently, He got everything He ever asked for. He wasn’t greedy or out for His own means. Every physical possession (His house or the disciples’ fleet of boats) were all tools to spread the Father’s Will. None of them were held onto. They were all for God’s Glory. Jesus gave us the example of looking to our Father as our Source. As the foundation for how we are living. For our daily bread. Our daily instruction. Our daily comfort. Our daily guidance. Jesus loved us so much, He came down to model for us HOW to look to the Father. HOW to trust in the Father. HOW to rest in Him in all things. He was so dedicated to us, He put off His own power to teach us how to embrace the Father’s love (2 Corinthians 8:9). He gave up that life as fully God in order to model for us what fully human should do (John 15:13). Now THAT is love!
