“Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law by being made a curse for us—as it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”—so that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith” (Galatians 3:13-14, MEV). As believers in Jesus, we are FREE from the curse of the Law. Yet we often retain our broken thinking. Just like holding onto negative thoughts can weaken your brain’s ability to reason, holding onto the old image of yourself can weaken your soul’s ability to stand firm on our new reality (our soul is our mind, heart, and the emotions we choose to have). We are NEW CREATIONS (2 Corinthians 5:17). It is as if we have been BORN AGAIN (John 3:1-21). We are NEW. We don’t have to follow the old rules because new rules are possible for us. We don’t have to get sick because we are free from sickness. Our minds will fight us on this (and things like it) because we’ve spent a lifetime being programmed for the way we USED to be – infested with death and its degenerative reality. But we are no longer being dragged into the grave. Instead, we are being moved to the Throne. We are being transformed into Jesus. We are being made into perfection. Every time something that belongs to the curse comes up, we need to deny its right to affect us. It is part of a coat we no longer have to wear. We can cast it off. We can throw it out. We can staple it to the cross and let it stay there. It is not what we have to be. We can move forward into better stewardship, better promises, and a better reality than were available to us before we had the Spirit of LIFE dwelling inside us (Romans 8:11). The Word TRANSFORMS US (Romans 12:2; Proverbs 3:8). We don’t have to settle for less than what Jesus says is possible in each and every situation. He took us OUT of what we were stuck in and put us smack dab in the middle of HIS promises to us (Colossians 3:1-4). If we rest in Him, rely on His strength, hold onto His promises, and submit to His Word, then we will be transformed into what He sees when He looks at us. Piece by piece, day by day, overcomers resting in the One who Overcame the World. What a great gift He has given to us!
