2026 Daily Affirmation #104

Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things have passed away. Look, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17, MEV). We want people to be their best, authentic selves. We don’t really manage it very well. We’re imperfect people. We have imperfect ideas of what our authentic selves are. We tend to lean into feelings, which is always a mistake. Feelings are the storm that passes through us, they don’t represent the true topography of our inner selves. But Jesus is God. He can see through us into the innermost recesses of our beings. He KNOWS us in ways we have yet to discover. In knowing us so deeply, Jesus knows our best, authentic selves. He is the ONLY one who does. We cannot reach that inner self without Him because our best, most authentic self is the one God sees. The one who isn’t marred by mistakes or Sin. The one who is righteous, trustworthy, and true. We cannot reach that self outside of Jesus. It is HE who re-creates us into what we should always have been. He loved us enough to pay the price for us. He loved us enough to let us enter into His New Covenant. He loved us enough to become Sin so that we could become His Righteousness. He bought the ticket we get to use. We join Him in death so that we can join Him in abundant life. If we died, that part of us is over. Finished. It cannot affect us if we don’t let it. And if we rely on Jesus, instead of ourselves, then it is a simple choice. God is the source of life and in Jesus we get access to it. Jesus literally is loving us to perfection in Himself.
