Fear No Fear

“And being found in the form of a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death, even death on a cross. Therefore God highly exalted Him and gave Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:8-11, MEV). No other religious personage is reviled as much as Jesus. No other religious person is used as a curse word. No other religious person’s teachings are mocked and attacked. With every other religious figure, their thoughts are listened to, and maybe rejected, but they aren’t automatically causes of offence. How they are applied is sometimes considered offensive, but the worst behaviour is considered the acts of radicals. EVERYTHING Jesus said sparks controversy. Just reciting what Jesus said is considered to be dangerous. In some places of the world it is illegal. In others, as soon as you start making a real difference and attribute that to Jesus you are in the cross-hairs of both the authorities and special interest groups. The Jews are God’s chosen people, so they are attacked and harassed all across the globe. Jesus is God’s own Son, God Himself, and everyone who follows Him is attacked and harassed all across the globe. That alone should tell you there is something special about Jesus. Something unique. Because He is pure and righteous, because He loves us so much, He is a target of all that is evil and impure. As if by mocking Him or turning His name into a curse, they could in any way alter the position that He has. As if they could undue His sacrifice. As if they could repeal the LOVE He has for us. As if they could take Him down from His exalted position above EVERYTHING and EVERYONE. They will never try as hard with any other figure of anything humanity has come up with be it a religion, a cult, a myth, or a legend. They are all concerned about Jesus first and foremost because Jesus IS TRUTH – and they HATE the truth that Jesus LOVES us and came so that we could be SAVED.
