2026 Daily Affirmation #131

Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book. But these are written that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name” (John 20:30-31, MEV). We’re told about the signs and miracles that Jesus did so that we understand that He is capable of doing what He says He can do – even when it is impossible. That’s really important because we know that “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23). Jesus claimed to give us eternal life. He claimed to be the payment for Sin and our personal iniquities. You can’t SEE that. You can’t OBSERVE it. You can’t MEASURE it. We can only know that He spoke the truth and can in fact wipe our sins away, and bring us into a relationship with God because He did other impossible to measure things. He returned sight without medical or technological intervention. Impossible. He returned limbs the same way. Impossible. Cured diseases. Impossible. Cast out evil spirits. Impossible. Multiplied food without the influx of new ingredients. Impossible. He even raised the dead – including someone deceased with witnesses for over four days (especially impossible). Jesus did things that cannot be replicated by human will, human effort, or human design. Not without technology. We can’t do what He did on our own. But Jesus came as a witness and let His Father work through Him so that we could understand who Jesus was and that if Jesus said it, He could perform it. No exceptions. Impossibility doesn’t matter. He can do what He says He can do. Period. We’re TOLD this so that we can BELIEVE in Him. So that we can learn to TRUST in Him. To TRUST what He says. To TRUST that He CAN do it. Again and again. As many times and in as many places as needed so that we ALL can believe and trust in Him. Jesus was in the business of SURETY. Of CONFIDENCE in God. In SECURITY in God. In PEACE in God. Resting in Jesus is choosing to trust in Him no matter what our circumstances because we believe He can do what He says and we trust that He loves us enough to follow through on those words. The more we realise His love for us, the easier it is for us to trust in Him.
