“For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7, MEV). Jesus walks with us. He is right there offering us His hand. When we walk with Him, nothing is impossible for us because nothing is impossible for God (Matthew 19:26). Jesus isn’t calling to us from afar. Jesus loves us and doesn’t want us to be struggling through muck and mire trying to reach Him. Jesus loves us and wants us right beside Him. Sure, there will be problems, issues, persecutions, and struggles. But it won’t be a struggle to reach Him. It will be the world and the devil struggling to get us apart from Him. That’s a big difference. The disciples were struggling alone in the boat because they forgot who was in the boat with them (Mark 4:37-41). When we remember who we are with, whose hand we are holding, who lives within us, then we can be calm in the boat with Jesus no matter WHAT the storm is that’s raging around us. Knowledge of how much Jesus loves us makes ALL the difference. When we trust in Him who is with us, then nothing can chip away at that. Nothing can sneak in. He is a STRONG TOWER. He is a FORTRESS. He is PROTECTION. Who cares if there is wind howling? Who cares if there are waves pounding? Who cares if rain is pouring? When we are secure in our knowledge of God’s love for us, none of that makes any real difference. We KNOW that they will not touch us in any significant way (Psalm 118:6). We KNOW that we have peace we can engage in order to replace the anxiety and depression (Philippians 4:7). We have ALL BLESSINGS in Jesus because Jesus loves us (Ephesians 1:3). We can live in that knowledge. It makes ALL the difference to know who it is who is with you and why it is that He cares.
