Fear No Fear

“And we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him” (1 John 4:26, MEV). Love makes the world a better place. The highest achievements of humanity have been based on and in love. We have done the best things because of love. We do our best when we love. Sadly, our love isn’t perfect. It can be broken. It can be limited by its physicality. It can be toxic. We can use it to cover horrific behaviour and let it become a tool of oppression, abuse, and terrible things. Humans often have good intentions, but sometimes we don’t. Other times our good intentions aren’t enough because we are imperfect. We don’t always act perfectly. That’s humanity (Romans 3:23). But God isn’t what we are. God is LOVE. Perfect, truthful, faithful, righteous, consistent, constant, and never-failing. EVER. God made us because God is love. God LOVES us. God’s love is what manifested His goodness. That goodness is embedded in His creation. It shouts and screams of His goodness. Of His glory. And that same speaking of His glory is within us. That same goodness is coded into our DNA. That’s the love we are capable of. It isn’t PASSION – that’s feeling and emotion-based. It’s a DECISION. It’s a CHOICE. We are capable of loving and finding love in every situation we could EVER find ourselves in. Our best moments as individuals and as a species are founded and rooted in the Lord. Because of HIM, we are able to experience it. We get to experience a glimpse of who God is every time we make the CHOICE to engage His love by loving. Regardless of how we FEEL about someone, we get to choose to LOVE them and show them LOVE. Pure love. Righteous love. His love. It is a witness to us that God loves us. She is a sharing God and He shares Himself with us. What a blessing it is to be able to love. What a difference He makes in this world through us. Every day.
