Fear No Fear

“Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4, MEV). Jesus loves us enough to know us so well that He can bless us with what we desire. God does this on several levels. The BEST one is that as we love Him and delight ourselves in who He is and His moral character and His Word, the desires of our hearts start to become the desires of HIS heart. We come to love the same things. He gives GOOD things, because they’re the same things in His heart. It’s truly amazing. It’s wonderful. He doesn’t stop there. He is also aware of those GOOD things in our own hearts that we desire. Things we’d like to purchase. Places we’d like to go. People we’d like to see. Events we’d like to participate in. God is a giver. He LOVES to drive-by bless us. Out of the blue, BAM. That thing you wanted is suddenly provided for. Unexpected opportunity to earn the money. The thing given by someone who was thinking of you. Somebody donating something that benefits you. Winning a contest or giveaway. Being the thousandth customer. There are a thousand or more ways for Him to bless us. And He does it just because He loves us. We have an agreement with our kids when we go to the bottle depot. If they will go to the hassle of sorting, de-lidding, and arranging the recyclables on the cart and take it up to the till, they get to keep the deposit money. This is always popular because like the rest of us, they always have things they want to spend the money on. Two of them had definite goals and have been chomping at the bit the last few times because they were saving their money. Last night, right before it closed, we were there and they were sorting away. Suddenly a guy stepped up to them and handed them a big bag full of pop cans. Told them they could have them to return. Those cans alone pushed the kids over their finish line. Both of them could afford the thing they had been saving for – about two weeks early. THAT was a blessing. It was unexpected. It was sudden. And it was typical for our GOOD God who does GOOD things and loves to BLESS us just because He LOVES us.
