So he arose and came to his father. But while he was yet far away, his father saw him and was moved with compassion, and ran and embraced his neck and kissed him” (Luke 15:20, MEV). God loves us enough to be on watch for us. We are saved, but we were not always saved. Whether you were raised in a believing home or not, a personal decision had to be made and before that decision was made you were against God. You were choosing yourself over Him. You were aligned with the devil, not with Jesus. We were enemies. And it was while we were enemies – in fact before we were even created – Jesus chose to die for us (Romans 5:10). Jesus chose to die for us before there was anything to die for (Revelation 13:8). He has been on the watch for us since we were nothing but an idea in His mind. He upholds us in His thoughts, keeping us in existence because He treasures us that much (Hebrews 1:3). How is it that He loves us that much? He IS love. He is watching for even the hint of a thought of the idea of turning back to Him. He is READY for us. Ready to pick us up. Ready to wash us off. Ready to bring us into the feast and celebrate with us. To kick off a party in heaven. Shouts of joy and thanksgiving because you chose Him (Luke 15:7). From the moment God thought of us through the moment of salvation through our every second of every day, God is watching us. Not to punish us. Not to smite us. To LOVE us. To GUIDE us. To CORRECT us. To help us through repentance. Big things, small things, all things. God LOVES us. And God loves to love on us. That’s the God that we serve. That’s the God that we fellowship with. The God that doesn’t want us to get away. The God that wants to bring us close and closer and even closer. Now, forever, always. God is watching for us. God loves us. That is NEVER going to change.
