Fear No Fear

“Then Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do. For whatever He does, likewise the Son does” (John 5:19, MEV). Jesus loves us enough to have been an example for us. Part of the cross Jesus had to bear when He became flesh, was to submit Himself wholly to the Father’s will. Up until that point they were ONE (Deuteronomy 6:4). United in purpose, place, and being. Here, Jesus was flesh. He wasn’t physically everywhere. He was here, the Father was in heaven. Spiritually united, physically separated. That must have been a burden. And Jesus had to continue to be physically separated which gave opportunity for temptation. Why not do this? Why not do that? Jesus was total compassion. Why not heal everyone at the Pool of Bethesda (John 5:1-18)? Why not go heal Lazarus immediately (John 11:1-6)? Jesus had to go where the Father directed, do what the Father showed Him to do, and submit to the will of the Father. It would have been just as hard for Him as it is for us. The difference being that Jesus never released His identity. Jesus never looked anywhere but at the Father. Jesus KNEW who He was and REFUSED to let go of that. Because He knew who He was in God, He suffered like we do, but persevered and overcame (John 16:33). This was one aspect of the cross He bore DAILY. This was part of what He had to LEARN. This was the perfect human experience: total freedom and using that freedom to submit in the only way that was proper. This is the example Jesus set for us. Look to God. Look to God. Look to God. If we listen to the promptings of Holy Spirit, who always points us to Jesus, we will hear Jesus clearly. Jesus always points to the Father and asks us to choose to submit. To choose to align with Him. To choose proper worship. To choose the Way who is the Door to TRUTH. Jesus loves us enough He came and showed us HOW. Do we love Him enough to listen? To observe that Jesus in the Gospels and the book of Acts? To believe Him enough to trust and obey? If we look to the love Jesus has for us, it’s simple. We use His love to love Him back.
