“So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no man put asunder.”” (Matthew 19:6, MEV). Jesus loves us so much, we can adore Him right back. Every single day I am reminded how much I love my covenant partner. Every day I find myself focusing and refocusing. Thinking of them. Doing things so that they know that I care. That I love. That they are important. That I see them. I can do this because of Jesus. Because God chose love first (1 John 4:19). And almost every day, I see Jesus in my mind’s eye when I do. I start to think about whether I adore Him as I should. If I am as eager to listen to Him. To talk to Him. Not request things or declare myself in agreement with the Word, but really TALK. Am I that eager to read His Word. Hear His thoughts. To get my thinking in line with Him. To worship Him. To sing to Him. Praise Him. To acknowledge who He is to me and in my life. Do I make my spiritual life all about Him in the same kind of way I make my physical life all about my partner? Am I a good loving ‘partner’ to Jesus? I’m supposed to be. We all are. We are the Bride of Christ – collectively as the Church (Jew and Gentile) and individually as a person. Love is a choice. Are we choosing Him every day the same way He is choosing us every day? Are we showing Him the same devotion? The same care? Are we cultivating our love? Are we focusing on it? It’s easy not to. But it is a SIMPLE choice. It is SO OBVIOUS how much Jesus loves us. We need to take the time to spend time choosing to love Him back. If we can love ANYONE, it means God has loved us. Think about that and let it inform your decision to love God every day.
