2026 Daily Affirmation #194

So now abide faith, hope, and love, these three. But the greatest of these is love” (1 Corinthians 13:13, MEV). Jesus loves us enough to give us the key to everything that exists in God: love. Humans have built within us the desire to help. There are some rotten fruit, it is true, but the vast majority of humanity is willing to sacrifice, make efforts, and endure discomfort in order to help another human who is in serious trouble. We sweat the small stuff (like parking spaces or the last can of tuna on the shelf), but for the big stuff we show up. We have fought years-long wars to ensure that people we don’t know remain free. We search through woods and mountains for the lost. We dive, we drive, we climb, and we fly. Every corner of the globe is covered with people, and when we get in trouble we’re willing to help. We do this because we have within us the capacity for love. Real love, not just passion or feeling. We have this because God is love and we are made in His image and likeness. We cannot escape it. We wouldn’t really want to if we could. One of the greatest proofs of God and our intimate connection with Him is the self-sacrificing that humanity is capable of – even though we are an extremely selfish species. Every day there are stories reported of the goodness and generousity of people. Every day we have examples that God loves us because we have examples of us loving each other. Love is the most powerful force we have access to. It proves our kinship with the Lord. It shows our connection to Him. It constantly points to a deeper love. A more dependable love. Our relationship with Jesus. If a human’s love can be this powerful, imagine the power that Jesus’ love has for you and for me. It changes lives. It blesses. It provides rest from trouble. Not by removing the trouble (which it can do), but by protecting us and lifting us above the trouble so that we have His perspective on it. Every time we help someone, we are seeing the love of God manifest in our lives. God loves us. The proof is everywhere.
