“Unless those days were shortened, no one would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened” (Matthew 24:22, MEV). God loves us enough not to hold back what is righteous forever. God is merciful. He shortened the days that are coming toward humanity (with rapidity). God is loving. He’s working overtime and getting His children to work overtime in spreading the message of repentance. God wants NO ONE to perish, but for ALL to know eternal life – which is a relationship with God. But God is righteous. And God is just. He will delay for the sake of mercy, but He will still bring on what is coming because it is righteous judgment. The difference between being swept away and standing firm is our relationship with God and our acceptance of Him and His moral character as our own. We only have two choices. Reject His message or accept His message. We need to get right with God and hang onto that relationship. To not be distracted or step off His Way. No, we’re not going to be perfect. But there is ALWAYS a choice to repent and return to Him. As soon as possible. That was David’s ‘secret’. He had the heart of God because he had a heart of repentance. He was QUICK to repent. Yes, he messed up. But when he was called on it, he admitted wrong and worked to get his heart, mind, words, and actions in line with God’s point of view. We have the same choice today. We will not have unlimited time to make this decision. We do not have unlimited time to waffle and be distracted. What is coming is coming and we need to get right with God every chance we get. Whenever we mess up, we need to turn back to Him. Whenever we have the opportunity, we should be thankful and praising Him for being Him (being grateful). He is God and we are human. He made the Way open for us. We need to be walking it and loving Him every step of the way. When the storms come, it will make ALL the difference.
