Fear No Fear

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away” (Matthew 24:35, MEV). Jesus loves us enough to be serious with us. Jesus does more than tell us the truth. He MEANS it. Jesus said a lot of things. He asked a lot of questions. He turned religious thinking on its head and showed that what happened in the heart mattered even more than what happened in our physical world. Jesus held back no punches. Jesus laughed and told stories and fellowshipped. Jesus also spoke sternly, warned, and was serious. He meant all of it. The stuff we like and the stuff we do not like. The stuff that rubs us the wrong way because it calls us into righteous living – but righteous living from GOD’s point of view. It is serious stuff. It is not stuff that we can lightly shove aside. We need to take it seriously and humbly submit to what we find in the Word. God is holding back stuff that is coming so that we all get the chance to hear His point of view and choose to repent and turn to Him. But He’s not STOPPING it. It is STILL COMING. This is not something we can sit on. This is not something we have decades or centuries to mull over. This is the time. Now is the time. The Kingdom of God is near, so repent! That was Jesus’ message to the people in His day (Matthew 4:17; Mark 1:15) and nothing has changed. It is STILL near. That does NOT mean we should be fearful. It DOES mean that if He shows us something in His Word, we need to stop. We need to consider it. We need to get more Light on it. We need to align ourselves with it, deal with our thinking and behaviour, and get His point of view into our heart as our point of view. We need to stop taking time to avoid what we know is truth. Jesus loves us enough to be serious about this. We need to love Him enough to be serious about it too.
