Fear No Fear

“These will wage war with the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings. Those who are with Him are called and chosen and faithful” (Revelation 17:14, MEV). Jesus, the Lamb, loves us enough to be our Lord. A lord was the title for a particular noble. They controlled a smaller local manor, land grant, or fiefdom given to them in exchange for loyalty and service to the crown. Jesus is Lord over us. We are the small fiefdom. He isn’t looking at the whole Body of Messiah (Jew and Gentile) when He is being our Lord. He is looking at us. At you and at me. It is a very personal and intimate relationship. Jesus is our friend, our confidant and companion, but also Lord over us. There is authority there. We are not free to do whatever we want because we are seeking to be under His authority. Our freedom of choice is in our freely choosing to submit to Him. Not to be restricted, but to align with what He says is right and good – and ONLY what He says is right and good. He doesn’t stop being a ‘buddy’, but Jesus IS our Lord. We are submitting to His authority. We’re not out here arguing or trying to twist His arm so that we get the things WE want. We’re acknowledging His fitness as our Lord. Our ruler. An authority over us. Because He is a friend, we know He loves us. Because we know He loves us, we can trust that He wants the best for us. Not the best from OUR point of view, but the best from His point of view – which is THE superior point of view. He can’t save us if we don’t accept Him. And accepting Him means accepting that He is the Name above ALL names. THE authority. The Way, the Truth, and the Life. He is friend, He is saviour, and He IS Lord of you and the Lord of me. A personal relationship with the authoritative Lord.
