Fear No Fear

“For the Lord will pass through to kill the Egyptians. And when He sees the blood upon the lintel and on the two side posts, the Lord will pass over the door and will not permit the destroyer to come to your houses to kill you” (Exodus 12:23, MEV). Jesus loves us and will NEVER leave us (Hebrews 13:5). During the last plague of Egypt, the final judgment on the system that was defying God and oppressing His people, God didn’t just send the Angel of Death. God came WITH the Angel of Death. God had already told the people how to escape the Angel: the blood of a lamb spread on the door frame. At every Hebrew dwelling, God showed up. The Lord was there. He personally went to each and every door FIRST. The Angel of Death was with Him, behind Him. They were protected by the blood, the obedience of following the instruction. God checked each and every house, taking great pleasure in turning to the Angel of Death and saying, ‘not this one’ or ‘move along’ or whatever it was. Because they obeyed, God was enabled to protect them because it was the system He set up. Like in the Garden when they were protected until they disobeyed – and then had to walk through the consequences. God sets up a system of free will so that WE can choose whether to obey or not to obey. He could work outside the system, but then He wouldn’t be JUST. He doesn’t give us a choice, and then act without us choosing. The thing is, His love is so great He is BESIDE us for the choosing. And He doesn’t leave if we choose incorrectly. He doesn’t stay because we obey. He doesn’t leave because we disobey. He is there for every choice we make and He is there for every consequence: good, bad, or neutral. God loves us enough to be there with us. God loves us to be there for us. God loves us. Period. We will NEVER be alone.
