Fear No Fear

“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor in the Lord is not in vain” (1 Corinthians 15:58, MEV). Jesus loves us enough not to waste our time. So much of our time at work, at school, and at home is spent wasted. Tedious repetitive tasks we’re forced into because someone else made a poor decision. Doing things that are going to need to be undone because they’re not being done in the right place, with the right material, or in the correct order. Filling out three forms when one would have sufficed. Being asked to drop off a complete resume and then to fill out an online hiring form that has fields for all the same information. We all know it when we’re tasked with something that’s a waste of time. We feel it in our bones. It is a draining experience. That NEVER happens with Jesus. He corrects us. He tells us when WE have done the wrong thing – or the right thing the wrong way. But He never sets us to a wasted task. Everything that God asks us to do has a point to it. It has a purpose. He doesn’t always tell us what it is – and to be honest, He doesn’t owe us the explanation. But we can trust there is a purpose to it. There is a point. That it matters in some way to some body. Every task we have in the Lord is a GOOD task. It is an IMPORTANT task. And it is a task that we were designed to do (Ephesians 2:10). In Jesus we have purpose. In Jesus we have a place. In Jesus, what we do matters.
