Fear No Fear

“We have this hope as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, which enters the Inner Place behind the veil” (Hebrews 6:19, MEV). Jesus loves us enough to anchor us. Life can be tumultuous. It wasn’t designed to be that way, but we rebelled and Sin entered. Creation was corrupted. Entropy started. Death became the inevitable result of us removing ourselves from Life – rebelling and walking away from God. Now we have all sorts of issues, problems, chaos, and death surrounding us. And it is a LOT to deal with. Every year forest fires rage, causing whole communities to evacuate. Tornadoes tear up homes. Hurricanes decimate coastlines. Earthquakes destroy whole cities. Floods sweep people away. These are not acts of God. They are not natural. They are the death-throes and birthing pangs of a fallen Creation. And as time goes on they get worse because the end nears. That can be scary. It could all end in ten months. Or in another several hundred years. We don’t know. But we DO know two things. First, it IS ending. Second, and the most important, God is right here beside us. We have a hope. And on this hope we can put our trust. We can believe it. We can rely on it. And we can EXPERIENCE it. Jesus is a SAFE PLACE. He guides us, He commands us, and He protects us – when we are obedient and doing what He tells us to. If we will lean into Him and listen to what He says, we will be well-prepared for anything that happens. He isn’t surprised by the future. He isn’t unprepared. We don’t need to worry about tomorrow. We can take comfort in the today that He has provided us. Tomorrow will take care of itself and we’ll be VERY ready for it when we focus on Him because JESUS is VERY ready for it. He is our shelter. He is our strong tower. He is our Lord and our Saviour. He IS. We can choose not to be troubled and choose not to be anxious and choose not to be worried when we choose to rely on the one who gave us His promise and is right beside us to back it up.
