Fear No Fear

“But He said, “Indeed, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it.”” (Luke 11:28, MEV). Jesus loves us enough to speak to us – whether we’re listening and following through or not. Our behaviour doesn’t change His. He is still speaking to us. Telling Holy Spirit everything the Father tells Him, which Holy Spirit tells us (John 17:25-26; 16:13-14). God is doing His part. Jesus often said “He who has ears to hear, let him hear” (Matthew 11:15). We’re meant to do more than just listen. Anyone can hear. Not everyone HEARS. Just like active listening has steps to it, so does active hearing. One of those steps is to process what you’re hearing and turn that into action of some kind. Internalizing it so that our words, thoughts, and actions reflect what we have inside. God is not speaking to us for HIS benefit. Nothing we do, say, or think will change His nature, His position, or His being. He IS. God speaks to us for OUR benefit. So that WE can have the BLESSING. So that WE can be where WE can interact with Him. God is righteous. If we aren’t righteous, we can’t stand before Him. He told us that again and again throughout scripture. When we internalize that and accept Jesus as Saviour, we get to be in Jesus. We get to spiritually become what Jesus is (2 Corinthians 5:21). In Jesus we can approach the Father. In Jesus we can present ourselves and stand before the Throne (Hebrews 4:14-16). God doesn’t stop there. God is constantly talking to us. Constantly speaking into our spirits. Constantly guiding us. It always accords with His Word. He’s not giving us brand new revelation. He’s not writing new books of the Bible. He’s commentating to us on what He has revealed, applying it to every area of our lives, piece by piece (2 Corinthians 3:18). Are we listening? Are we HEARING? Are we applying what we hear? Are we OBEYING Him? That’s the difference between hearing and hearing. When we hear, we can ignore what we are listening to. But when we HEAR, we obey. Jesus is speaking to you RIGHT NOW. Listen. Hear. Obey. It is ALWAYS the right thing to do.
