“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!” (1 Corinthians 15:57, MEV). God loves us enough to give us lasting victory. He doesn’t do it by directing our efforts. That is temporary victory and we see Him faithfully leading Israel and Judah through that again and again. Those are our here and now battles. The oppressions and dominations of human aggressors. Some of those we are 100% delivered from and others we walk through unscathed, witnessing to them of God’s Grace and Mercy in trials. But that isn’t our real fight (Ephesians 6:12). The true enemy is the devil and his angels. Those forces who want us to be like them and reject God – even reject Him while knowing Him. The devil wants to have our worship. He wants to kill and destroy us. Anything but us worshipping and following Almighty God. The devil has no power against us. He and all his allies are WEAK players. They have ZERO defense against God. What they do have is WORDS. They can tempt, twist, and present things in a different light. They try and get our eyes off of God. THAT is the battle. And that battle is waged in our minds. Every minute of every day they will bring thoughts to try and get us to accept something (anything) less than what God says we can and should have. God provided us Jesus who FINISHED this battle. He HAS the victory. It is OVER. The question is where WE are going to stand. Are we going to make the effort to stand in the victory Jesus won for us by looking to Him and keeping our thoughts aligned with His thoughts? If we do, we have victory (James 4:7). Or are we going to let ourselves think like the world thinks? Do what the world says we can and should do? Live like them and experience only what they say is possible? If we do, we are taking LESS THAN we are allowed in Jesus. If we do, we are making the poor decision. It is better to align with God and what HE says is possible. He is the victor and He is sharing that eternal victory with us. Why not accept it? Why not live in it? Why not rest in Jesus every day?
