“But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees. For man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”” (1 Samuel 16:7, MEV). God loves us enough to see what we deserve. He is not blinded by rose-coloured glasses. Instead, He operates in SPITE of what we deserve, seeking to give us what we do NOT deserve. That is how much He loves us. He sees all the bad, all the negative, all the mistakes, all the sin, and He STILL wants to save us. He wanted it before we knew Him. He wants it now. He will always want it. There will NEVER be a time when He does not want to save us from where we are. That’s why Jesus came. God COULD have judged us all a billion times over right from the start. But He chose to save. He chose to reach out. He chose to redeem. He came to save the lost by helping them find Him. Look at Adam and Eve. They rebelled. They opened the door to Sin. God went looking for them. God clothed them in very good clothes. He didn’t leave them to their efforts. He saved them from staying in Sin forever. He CONTINUED to speak to them and interact with them. He did NOT leave them alone. He did not sulk. He did not smite. He acted from love and with love. Yes, there were consequences for their actions. God didn’t let the consequences stop Him. It was the way it was then and it is the same way today. God doesn’t change. God wants to save each and every one of us. That’s the Good News. That’s the gift. It doesn’t cost us anything. He paid for it all. We need to choose to accept it. We need to see Him as what He is, not an ogre. We need to realize we are BLESSED and can share that blessing with others. God sees it all. He doesn’t let it stop Him. We shouldn’t stand in His way.
