Fear No Fear

“Listen! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:20, MEV). God loves us enough to knock when we shut the door. God is Light. He shines everywhere. If we don’t have His Light shining in every facet of our lives, it’s because at some point we shut the door on that room. Salvation is the beginning of the journey. We confess with our mouths what we believe in our hearts and we humbly submit to Jesus as Lord and Saviour over our lives. That opens the front door. But our lives are made up of a myriad of other rooms. Each thought. Each issue. Each aspect of our personalities. Each thing that God says in His Word is good, true, and right. They are all rooms within our hearts. We need His Light in each and every one of them. It takes time. It takes effort. It takes the willingness to continually bend our knee and submit to Him. It isn’t always easy. Some things are VERY easy – although we might end up revisiting them much later in our lives. No temptation ever really goes away. It goes until it comes back and tries again. The good news is that once we’ve been shown the way out of the temptation we ALWAYS know the way out (1 Corinthians 10:13). We need to open the doors that Jesus knocks on. We need to open the doors the Father calls to us about. We need to open the doors Holy Spirit shows us. We have a responsibility to action. We need to take the time to listen to what God is saying to us. We need to take the time to be willing to trust Him and believe what He is saying. We need to take the time to obey Him. We need to open that door and let His Light in. And do it again with the next door. And the next door. And the next. Until there are no more doors and we stand perfected and completed in Him before the Throne in Heaven. It’s a journey. It’s an experience. It’s humbling. It’s hard to fight against the flesh. But in Jesus, we can do it. He is our strength. He is our restoration. He is our guide, teacher, and corrector. He is our overcomer. In Him, we can do it. Just exactly what He says, when He says it. Whatever door He’s knocking on, listen to Him about it. Renew your mind about it. And let His Light in. Open the door. He does the heavy lifting, but we still need to turn the nob and push.
