Fear No Fear

“The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was continually only evil” (Genesis 6:5, MEV). God loves us enough to renew us. All imagination evil. All selfish motivations. All rebellious against the natural order, God’s moral character, and everything that is objectively good. It was all about pleasure, wants, desires, and whatever thoughts they had to do whatever they thought was possible. What a terrible way of living. Yet, they were. And we are heading that way again (Matthew 24:37). God loves us enough to renew us. To offer us a way to become again what we were always meant to be. He gives us a new heart, one that isn’t selfish (Ezekiel 36:26). He writes His Word on our hearts (Jeremiah 31:33). We use that Word to renew our minds to His point of view and to develop His moral character in our own hearts and minds (Romans 12:2). He gives us His ability to trust (Mark 11:22). He gives us His Spirit (1 Thessalonians 4:8) – a spirit that has no fear (2 Timothy 1:7). We don’t have the fullness of these promises yet, there is a further fulfillment coming. But we have a LOT of these promises that we inhabit. We have a new spirit, we have renewal, we have the Word on our hearts – hearts that the Lord softened and created anew within us. We have these things and we will continue to have them, getting to walk in more and more of the promise until we are complete and perfected and standing before the Throne of God Almighty worshipping face to face with Him. The part we inhabit now, the promises that are released to us right now, the freedom that we walk in RIGHT NOW – this is the best gift. Fellowship with God. A relationship with God. Not left to our own devices, but renewed to LIFE. Able to speak with Him, worship Him, thank Him, be corrected by Him, and obey Him. What a blessing. What a GOOD God. Saving us from broken thinking and broken ways, renewing us into Himself through Messiah Jesus our Lord. What a great covenant to partake in. What a merciful God.
